It says residents aged 65 or over who were not vaccinated last season had a higher rate of severe flu than those who were.

• 21 Jul 2026 · Government (our summary)Candida auris carrier cluster at a care home in Tai Kok TsuiThe Centre for Health Protection is following up a cluster of three Candida auris carriers among residents of a care home in Tai Kok Tsui, linked to an earlier cluster at Kwong Wah Hospital. The residents have no symptoms and are stable; the centre has inspected the home, trained staff and asked it to tighten infection control.

• 16 Jun 2026 · Government (our summary)Three more Shenzhen and Dongguan homes join the Guangdong schemeFrom 1 July, three homes in Shenzhen and Dongguan join SWD's Residential Care Services Scheme in Guangdong with subsidised care-and-attention places, and a Foshan home in the scheme adds nursing home places. The scheme grows to 29 homes.

• 26 May 2026 · Government (our summary)Incentives for care homes in new private developments made permanentThe Labour and Welfare Bureau has made permanent, from 20 June, the trial improvements to the scheme that lets developers build care homes in new private developments without paying land premium for them. The changes allow more and larger homes per site, to add care home places through the market.
