How to check a care home's SWD conviction and warning records

SWD's Licensing Office of Residential Care Homes for the Elderly publishes three kinds of records on its website: conviction records from the recent 24 months, warning records from the recent 12 months, and records of licence cancellation or refusal to renew. SWD publishes each record only for that period.

We do not reproduce these records or show them on home pages. To check any home, please see SWD's official records:

To check conviction, warning or licence cancellation records, please see the Social Welfare Department's official records:

SWD's lists are authoritative. When checking, compare both the Chinese and English names and the address, as different homes can have similar names, and one operator may run homes under different names.

Warning records cite paragraphs of the Code of Practice for Residential Care Homes (Elderly Persons), which you can read on the SWD website ↗. SWD also publishes each home's licence information ↗.

To raise a complaint or concern about a home, call the SWD hotline on 2343 2255.
